Kindergarten - Second Grade - Mrs. Joan Heimes:
Mrs. Heimes has her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mount Marty College. She taught 10 years for the Yankton Public School system, 3 years for the Yankton Christian School, and 6 years at East Catholic for grades 1st and 2nd. The 17-18 school year will be her third year at MVCA.  She has one son, Jason, who is and RN at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Her daughter-in-law is also an RN at the Med Center in Omaha and is graduating in August as a Nurse Practitioner. Mrs. Heimes has a wonderful husband who works for the Yankton Public School System. 

In her free time, Mrs. Heimes loves to bike, hike, and kayak. She has a great love for God's beauty in nature and animals. 
When asked Why Christian Education, she replied: "I choose to teach in Christian Education because I have a great love for God. I want to be able to share that love with children. God is my Savior and friend. I want to be able to walk into my classroom and talk about the wonders of God. I want to be able to pray with my class for God's help and guidance."

Third - Fifth Grade - Mrs. Amanda Weyers:
Mrs. Weyers has a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University. She is in her 3rd year at Missouri Valley Christian Academy. Before coming to MVCA, Mrs. Weyers was a Teacher’s Aide at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Waconia, MN, and at Trinity Academy and Childcare in Hudson, WI. 
I choose to teach in a Christian school because I have a great love and respect for God and what He has done for us. There is nothing better than walking into a school where students are reading and learning from His Word every day

Sixth - Eighth Grade Language Arts/Bible 
- Mrs. Kathrine Stevens:
Mrs. Kathrine Stevens has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mrs. Stevens is in her 8th year with Missouri Valley Christian Academy. Prior to MVCA, Mrs. Stevens taught at Mitchell Christian School.
When asked the question: Why Christian Education, she replied: "It is a blessing each and every day to set foot in a school knowing that the Word of God is being taught in every single classroom. We are preparing and educatiing students for life, but more importantly for eternity. There is no better calling than that!"

K - Eighth Grade Physical Education - Mrs. Lauren Nelson:

Mrs. Lauren Nelson has a Masters in Elementary Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Special & Elementary Education. Mrs. Nelson brings to her classroom 15 years of experience along with her passion for seeing her students learn. She is originally from Arlington, SD and attends Providence Reformed Church in Vermillion, SD. Lauren is married to David and have three children.  Mary (MVCA '14) is a senior at Freeman Academy, Beatrice (MVCA '17) is a freshman at Freeman Academy, and Fredrick is a sixth grader at MVCA. 
When asked the question: Why Christian Education, she replied: "I am touching eternity.... there is nothing more humbling, but also, nothing more motivating to make me strive to be the best teacher each and every day."
